Crescendo

Lee’s Summit, MO | 2010

‘Crescendo’ is a public art piece conceived by Jorge Garcia and installed in a roundabout at the Summit Fair Shopping Center in Lee’s Summit. Jorge approached el dorado in the Spring of 2010 to assist in its detailing, fabrication and construction. The piece consists of 3 – 20′ tall round posts which support the twisting, spiraling translucent plastic panels. The piece responds to its location by echoing its cyclic energy but also adds a strong sense of upward motion. The notion of a crescendo in a passage of music refers to the dynamic of gradually increasing the volume culminating in a climax of sound.
