Great news: David has been nominated to the U.S. General Service Administration's National Registry of Peer Professionals, Class of 2010. So just what does a National Peer Professional do, you may ask? Much like the samurai were an elite warrior class created in ancient Japan to defend Japanese nobility, the Peer Professionals are an elite warrior class created by the Office of the Chief Architect in 1994 to defend the quality of work environments in America's Federal Buildings. Congrats to our friends at mk12, whose latest animated glory called Telephoneme won "Best Experimental Film" at the 2010 Miami Short Film Festival and was named "Official Selection" at a handful of other film festivals. Keep an eye out for the geeky scientist, who bears a mysterious resemblance to a certain bespectacled eldo. Coincidence, or David's cleanly shaven doppelganger? We'll let you decide. (more…)

We just got photos back for our latest commercial project, the new Kansas City Headquarters of Woodruff Sweitzer, an innovative brand-development company in the Crossroads. AIA Kansas City Design Awards

Three el dorado projects were honored Friday night at AIA Kansas City Design Awards. The Botwin Building, a mixed use development on the site of the old Waldo Theater, took home an Honor Award, one of three projects given top billing. With a furry roof, bamboo streetscape, and an art installation by Anne Lindberg that shades by day and glows by night, the Botwin Building has been a welcome addition for small businesses and Waldo residents, with activity spilling out of the building and onto the surrounding sidewalks at all hours of the day.
