Congrats to our friends at mk12, whose latest animated glory called Telephoneme won "Best Experimental Film" at the 2010 Miami Short Film Festival and was named "Official Selection" at a handful of other film festivals. Keep an eye out for the geeky scientist, who bears a mysterious resemblance to a certain bespectacled eldo. Coincidence, or David's cleanly shaven doppelganger? We'll let you decide. (more…)

We just got photos back for our latest commercial project, the new Kansas City Headquarters of Woodruff Sweitzer, an innovative brand-development company in the Crossroads. We liked working with them a lot, as our firms seem to have a lot in common: the quality of their work, their relaxed culture and their appreciation of premium meat snacks. (more…)

Troost Bridge Enhancement Mock-Up

AIA Kansas City Design Awards

Three el dorado projects were honored Friday night at AIA Kansas City Design Awards. The Botwin Building, a mixed use development on the site of the old Waldo Theater, took home an Honor Award, one of three projects given top billing. With a furry roof, bamboo streetscape, and an art installation by Anne Lindberg that shades by day and glows by night, the Botwin Building has been a welcome addition for small businesses and Waldo residents, with activity spilling out of the building and onto the surrounding sidewalks at all hours of the day. Park Central Apartments

Kansas City's Armour Boulevard was designed by the famous landscape architect George Kessler around the turn of the century. The street is a product of the City Beautiful movement, with standard 100 foot right of way, tall deciduous trees, and a number of historic buildings, both single family residences and multi-story dwellings. We just completed a historic renovation of one of those dwellings. Park Central Apartments, an 8-story former apartment hotel at 300 East Armour Boulevard, is one of several stately 1920s apartment buildings along this stretch of Armour that had fallen into disrepair over the last few decades.
