Vehicle Processing Facility
Kansas City, MO | 2010
Located within the Vehicle Impound Facility, this building will centralize the collection and processing of evidence gathered from vehicles involved in crimes. It includes a laboratory, office space, training space, and seven flexible work bays that can handle vehicles as large as a semi-trailer. The building is constructed of cast-in-place concrete with a steel structure. It is sheathed in corrugated zinc. A distinctive 2,500 square foot enclosed exterior area protects cars from evidence deterioration before they are admitted to the work areas. Formally, the design is similar to the buildings located at the Vehicle Impound Facility, forming a coherent campus. It features many of the same sustainable strategies that are found in the Impound Facility, including high insulation values, solar shading, water saving plumbing fixtures and an enhanced mechanical system.
