A few weeks ago we welcomed the second annual eldo Prize winner, Emily Lange, from the University of Tennesee in Knoxville. She’s an early riser, prefers her coffee dark with a splash of vanilla and proudly exclaimed her first day in the office that KC BBQ is better than Memphis BBQ. When we asked her what her hobbies and interests were, she listed: biking, hanging out with her dog, fashion design, furniture making, ceramic sculpture, photography, cinema, and MAKING THINGS, (which has been proven by her impressive model-making skills).

We like her already.

Adding to the internal office debate, she sides with the Royals fans over the Cardinals (though her loyalty truly lies with the Giants, being born and raised in San Francisco), and the pale ale drinkers over the wheat lovers. Emily is a 4th-year architecture student interested in connections between art and architecture, and she favors designer Virgil Abloh. She’s worked at Design Services at the University of Tennessee, and Knox Heritage. She hopes that five years from now she will “be employed somewhere awesome.” With the design chops and great taste in food, baseball and beer she has brought with her, we’re sure she’s on the right path. Welcome to Kansas City and el dorado, Emily!
